PRIVACYPOLICY
Freight generates paperwork about people as well as cargo. This says what we hold, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
From you: the name, email address, phone number and company details you give us in an enquiry or a booking, and the shipment details that go with it.
From the shipment: consignee and notify party details on the transport document, and the identity documents customs requires for an entry. These usually describe someone at your customer rather than you.
From the site: page views and referrers, aggregated. We do not run advertising trackers and we do not build profiles.
Why we hold it
To quote and book your freight, to file customs entries, and to prove to a regulator years later that an entry was filed correctly. The last one is a legal obligation rather than a choice, and it sets most of our retention periods.
Who sees it
Carriers, terminals, our overseas agents and the customs authority in each country the shipment touches. Each gets what that leg needs and nothing else.
We do not sell data, and we do not pass contact details to anyone marketing anything.
How long we keep it
Customs and accounting records for the period the law in the relevant jurisdiction requires, which is commonly five to seven years from the entry.
Enquiries that never became a booking are deleted after 24 months.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We answer within 30 days.
Deletion has a limit. Where a record sits inside a customs file we are required to retain, we will tell you which record it is and when it can go.
Cookies
The site sets what it needs to work and nothing else. There is no advertising network on it.
Questions about any of this go to hello@arcline.com, addressed to the data protection contact.
